The White House issued this oddity today:
The President is adamant that we seize this historic moment to pass meaningful health insurance reform legislation. He began this process by inviting Republican and Democratic leaders to the White House on March 5 of last year, and he’s continued to work with both parties in crafting the best possible bill. He’s been very clear about his support for the House and Senate bills because of what they achieve for the American people: putting a stop to insurance company abuses, extending coverage to millions of hardworking Americans, getting control of rising premiums and out-of-pocket costs, and reducing the deficit.
Wha….? OK, granted, the White House rarely acknowledges that locked the Republicans out of the process. However, it spend lots of time blaming the Republicans for not participating. How can Obama turn arond and claim that he’s been working with them the whole time? Hell, half the time he wasn’t even working with the Congressional Democrats. For a good chunk of the time, it seemed like he was just letting Reid and Pelosi simply have at.
The Obama and his administration seem to have no problem piling contradictions upon contradictions. Can’t they even grasp the idea that there stories should at least be logically consistent?
Obama was supposed to be the post-racial President; maybe he’ll be the post-rational President instead.

Conservatives speak in bumper stickers. Obama speaks in thesis statements. In fact, he sometimes seems constitutionally incapable of concision.
He also seems to display a disdain for irrational excitability and confronts it with either princely dispassion, mocking disbelief or stirring oratory that speaks more to posterity than to the people in front of him.
The problem seems to be that the general public is too stupid to comprehend the elaborate Acme DeathtrapSoaring Rhetoric that Obama, amazing awesome guy that he is, has been generating. Thus, we are never ensnared in his works of awesome genius.

It’s like Frank Rich almost pleading for some nutjob to shoot Obama, or blow up a building or who-knows what, so he can blame them awful right-wingers. He even manages to throw in the assertion that Sara Palin somehow endorsing an “armed fringe”. Talking up thinks like shooting the President seems to be the “best” thing you can do if you actually want some looney tune to get it in his head to do so. So this strikes me as a dangerous way to try to fire up the lefties.

CIA Director Leon Panetta’s emergency testimony to Congress about an illegal assassination program has set off a crisis at the spy agency. The Daily Beast’s Joseph Finder exclusively reports that:
• The secret assassination ‘program’ wasn’t much more than a PowerPoint presentation, a task force and a collection of schemes—it never got off the ground
• Panetta’s three immediate predecessors—George Tenet, Porter Goss, and Michael Hayden—have spoken to him, and that he now sees that no laws were broken.

MSNBC edits out black man’s face to justify “racism” charge!

On Tuesday, MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer fretted over health care reform protesters legally carrying guns: “A man at a pro-health care reform rally…wore a semiautomatic assault rifle on his shoulder and a pistol on his hip….there are questions about whether this has racial overtones….white people showing up with guns.” Brewer failed to mention the man she described was black.
Following Brewer’s report, which occurred on the Morning Meeting program, host Dylan Ratigan and MSNBC pop culture analyst Toure discussed the supposed racism involved in the protests. Toure argued: “…there is tremendous anger in this country about government, the way government seems to be taking over the country, anger about a black person being president….we see these hate groups rising up and this is definitely part of that.” Ratigan agreed: “…then they get the variable of a black president on top of all these other things and that’s the move – the cherry on top, if you will, to the accumulated frustration for folks.”
Not only did Brewer, Ratigan, and Toure fail to point out the fact that the gun-toting protester that sparked the discussion was black, but the video footage shown of that protester was so edited, that it was impossible to see that he was black. The man appeared at a health care rally outside of President Obama’s speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Phoenix, Arizona.

Earlier, the Obama admin made it sound like the government version of (cough, cough) competition was negotiable. Apparently the backlash from the left has caused them to back away from being reasonable. This will be fun to watch, since apparently there are not enough votes in the Senate for the “public option”. (I wonder if the “not enough” claim is based on a simple majority or not…)

It’s very sad that Obama lost his grandmother, but come on … last year, when it was politically expedient, he used the poor woman as the poster child elder for racism. Now that he wants to stop questions on the … fishier… aspects of his healthcare plan, he wants to play the sympathy card:
“I just lost my grandmother last year. I know what it’s like to watch somebody you love, who’s aging, deteriorate and have to struggle with that,” an impassioned Obama told a crowd as he spoke of Madelyn Payne Dunham. He took issue with “the notion that somehow I ran for public office or members of Congress are in this so they can go around pulling the plug on grandma.”
Note that she was “deteriorating” at exactly the same time he was using her as an example of the racism of a “typical white person”. Sigh.
It’s hard not be cynical about Pres. Obama and his need to make things ever so biographical when he senses any kind of political benefit in doing so.

She was at the Barnes and Noble on Steven’s Creek, hawking her novel. From what I hear, about 35 people showed for her booksigning (not counting her entourage, extra B&N security and a handful of actual cops).
There were hundreds of protesters.
There was also maybe four pro-Obama people and a handful of “Single-payer healthcare” folks.
Of course, NBC spent lots and lots of time interviewing one of the Obama people, coincidentally, the only one that was black. I guess it was a 25% chance, but still against the odds. Make your own judgment.

The face of racism
Don’t be misled. These new posters featuring Barack Obama’s face imposed over the likeness of Tinky Winky may appear benign, but they’re not.
Their intent is far deeper and insidious: to stir ugly racist thoughts in America’s subconscious.
On the surface, the posters don’t add anything new to the discussion. Obama has been called a “socialist” before. But, subliminally, the posters draw heavily on stereotypes of the worst kind.
Consider the following evidence:
- First, the obvious: Purple is only a tick or two away from black on the color spectrum, so it’s clearly no coincidence that Obama’s likeness was imposed over Tinky Winky and not Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Noo-Noo, or Po. Tinky Winky is an unspeakably devious subliminal reminder of the pigmentation of our President’s skin.
- Tinky Winky – and the rest of his Teletubby ilk – are meant to draw upon latent and subconscious racism and xenophobia. They’re odd looking, they speak in incoherent phrases, they eat strange food and live in a futuristic dome. Clearly, they’re not from around here – and they may not even be from this planet. To superimpose Obama’s likeness over such a character is a truly despicable tactic designed to remind white people of his foreign heritage and to reinforce the notion that he is “of the other.”
- Lastly, using Tinky Winky is a cretinously creative way to emasculate the President. Everyone knows Tinky Winky carries a red handbag, for crying out loud. White evangelicals are particularly attuned to subliminal associations with Tinky Winky since Jerry Falwell outed the cartoon character as a symbol of gay pride with his purple (but remember, also almost black) color and his triangular antenna.
This is ugly stuff. By superimposing Obama’s face over the likeness of Tinky Winky this new poster creates a subtly coded, highly effective racial and political argument. Forget socialism, this poster is another attempt to undermine the President by drawing on deep seated stereotypes against blacks, foreigners, and gays. It’s disgusting.
